These book holders were made from traditional frame sample corners that created chevron-like structures.  Tassels are also traditional for adding preciousness or exotic implications to objects in other cultures. I think books are amongst the most precious objects in the world.  As I focused on making these after 9-11, my rule was that everything I used had to already be in the studio.  Being able to focus on being an artist and beginning some new work was my way of coping with the helplessness I felt after the tragedySlater Barron
